Founder

Jared Kobernat is the founder of ROQ.

He started ROQ in Topeka, Kansas after watching his own family navigate a home purchase with less information than the agents, lenders, and contractors around them. He still builds the product today—from ROQ Home to ROQ Business—alongside his wife Erika, who helps run the business and its launches.

Before ROQ

Jared spent his early career in sales leadership—learning firsthand how businesses actually win and lose customers, and how often the person on the other side of a deal has less information than everyone else in the room. He later taught himself to build software: websites, native apps, CRMs, and the internal tools that now run ROQ itself, rather than stitching the business together from other people’s platforms.

You can read the full story of how that turned into ROQ Home and ROQ Business.

What he’s building now

Jared builds and maintains ROQ Home and ROQ Business directly—the product, the data, and the systems behind both. That includes ROQ Home Management, a native iOS app that gives homeowners a simpler way to track their property from their phone. The idea behind all of it is the same one that started ROQ: most of what you need to know about your own home or your own business already exists somewhere, scattered across permits, contracts, and public records—ROQ’s job is to put it in one place, in plain language.
